POPULAR LIES ABOUT HELL YOU NEED TO BEWARE OF

The term ‘hell’ is not my invention. It has been there for centuries and it is found in the Bible. The subject of hell is shunned by many professing Christians. Some reject it while others ignore it altogether. A study some years back showed that 72 percent of American Christians believe in literal heaven while 58 percent believe in a literal hell. So what do other Christians believe? No doubt they have adopted an unbiblical worldview about the subject.

1. Hell does not exist

This is one of the biggest lies about hell that exists out there. The lie is perpetrated by atheists who also hold the view that there is no hell, no heaven, and no God. Whatever man may say, the truth is, we won’t be talking of a place called hell I’d it never existed. Hell is mentioned several times in the scriptures and there we must believe there is hell. Hell is a real place where Satan, demons, and unbelievers will be punished forever by God.

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Mathew 25:41

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment. (2 Peter 2:4)

Sadly, many people who are ignorantly of hell will find that hell is a real place too late. Devil has deceived so many people into believing this deception. Beware of this and be careful you don’t succumb to this deception. Many ignorant men say that hell was invented by church to enslave people but the truth is hell is a real place.

2. Hell is not Forever

This is one of the lies entertained by many people even including non-believers. Some delude themselves that God won’t stand to see his creation in agonies of hell forever. Some hold to the view that people will be annihilated while the Roman Catholic false teaching of Purgatory teaches that some people can escape hell and get into heaven after some time. The truth is that Bible teaches that the Hell fire is forever. Unbelievers will be tormented forever in hell.

And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever

Revelation 20:10

Many people today delude themselves that God is loving and merciful and even if they will be thrown in hell, after sometimes they may be forgiven and allowed into heaven. These are statements uttered out of ignorance. The God of the Bible does not change.

3. Hell is a place of Fun

Some people who have never read the Bible often think that hell is a place where all kinds of wickedness happens. Many think hell is full of concerts, partying, fun (whatever that means), indulgences etc. The truth is hell is a place of torment not partying. The lost are not celebrating in hell but perishing. It is a place of wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Hell is described in Scriptures as a place where their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be quenched , a place of everlasting contempt.(Daniel 12:1-2), the hell of fire. To see how Bible describes hell and still think contrary is to be a fool. No games, no happiness, no joy in hell.

4. Devil will be Tormenting People in Hell

There many people who think that devil will be the one burning people. The popular thinking of devil is depicted as a monster with horns and a fork. Devil is not the leader of hell. Many people think that devil and demons will be dancing while unrepentant are being tormented. No, even devil and the demons will be tormented. Devil is not punishing you on behalf of God. In fact, the lake of fire is chiefly prepared for devil and his angels, not to stay there but to be tormented.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

5. You Have to do a ‘very big sin’ to get to Hell

This thought which is entertained by many people. Many do not see themselves having committed sin which should put them in hell. They are law abiding citizens, never been in jail, never killed anyone and they are basically good people. So based on this, they think they will escape hell.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

But by God’s holy law, we are all sinners. We have broken God’s law and thus we are destined to Hell. The notion that any person may get into heaven without Christ is heresy and a very damning lie. By default, we are on the road leading to hell. So, just by doing nothing, we would find ourselves in the flames of hell fire. Any sin committed, however small is enough to sink a soul into hell.
