Why is Jesus Taking Too Long to come back?
Ever felt let down by someone you invited as guest of honor who seemed like not showing up after hours of waiting? That might be what many Christians feel like when they think of Christ’s return
It has been over 2000 years since Jesus ascended to Heaven. He said he will come soon but yet he has not returned yet. Why is he delaying?
Is Christ Coming back?
Yes. Jesus is coming back, very soon! Jesus speaking of his second Coming, he said, ” When son of man comes in His Glory, and all the Holy Angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His Glory.” (Mathew 25:31).
While addressing his disciples not to worry, Jesus again told them that after he goes to his father’s house (heaven) to prepare a place for them, he will come again and receive them to himself and take them with him. *John 14:2-4)
Paul comforts Thessalonians for their loss after some of members had fallen asleep (died) with Second coming of Jesus saying that the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with trumpet of God. (1 Thessalonians 4:16)
When is Jesus coming back ?
Jesus did not specify the day or the hour of his second coming. No man nor the angel knows exact time when Christ is coming back.
Down the years, several men rose claiming they knew from calculations of prophecies or visions when Jesus would return. All of them never came true. Great disappointment in 1844 was a remarkable after William Miller prophecy about Christ return failed to bear fruits.
Jesus however described that the time of his coming would just be like says of Noah, life going in normally. He therefore warned his disciples to be ready at all time. Mathew 24:44
Reasons why Jesus has not returned yet.
1. His time for Second Coming has not arrived
God never delays. He is not slack concerning his promise. He is not slow nor fast. When His times arrives, Christ Jesus will come again for the believers.
But you may say, “He said he is coming soon!” Yes he did, and he is coming very soon. However, you should not that with the Lord, one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day. So be patient, when he comes you will notice that it was too soon.
2. Lord is not slack but long-suffering towards you
Christ Jesus has been patient with us and he has not returned because his giving us time to repent. He is not willing that any of us should perish but that all of us may repent.
Let us examine ourselves and our hearts to see if we are right with God. Let us repent and ask for forgiveness for our sins that we may receive forgiveness and be saved.
3. Gospel to Reach the Whole World
Gospel of the kingdom has to be first be preached to the whole world as a witness to all nations and then the end will come. (Mathew 24:14)
When Gospel has been preached to the whole world and the elect have been saved, Christ will come back.
Conclusion
Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found in Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and account that the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation. (2 Peter 3:14)
