TOTAL DEPRAVITY OF MAN

You might have come across this term before or it might be just the first time you have heard about this. This is a very important doctrine that is biblical and every Christian should know and believe in it. What does total depravity mean and is it Biblical?

The doctrine of the total depravity of man means that mankind is wholly incapable (depraved) of obeying the will of God perfectly because all of his faculties namely, will, actions, thoughts, etc have been marred with sin.

Many people often get confused about the meaning of total depravity. Total depravity does not mean that men are as wicked as they should be. There is no doubt that man being evil, does some good deeds. There are many unbelievers who love their families, help the poor and show compassion to those around them.
