Meet Denis Musembi, Site Admin at Pilgrim Meditations
Greetings, my name is Denis Musyimi Musembi. He is a Junior Data Analyst, Christian and a student at University of Nairobi, Kenya pursuing Bsc. Mechanical Engineering currently in my 5th year(2022).
Denis hails from Kanthi, a very small village in semi-arid Kitui South, Kitui County in Kenya. He is a Christian, and fellowships at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Nairobi where he is pursuing membership. He was born in July 12th 1998 in Nairobi where his parents (Samson and Edinah ) were living.
Denis grew up in kanthi village all his teen years. He went to Syunguni primary school to pursue his primary education. He then joined Matinyani Boys Secondary school for his high-school studies.
Raised in the village, Musyimi spent most of his young years in church. He attended Sunday school until he completed primary school for 8-4-4 system. He narrates, “I do not remember any Sunday when I missed church for any reason. In many years, I attended all the fifty two Sundays of the year.” Denis believes that through the Sunday school he learnt things that helped him to trust the Lord even during the difficult times they were facing then.
Denis Musyimi grew up in a pentecostal church. The Gospel was not clearly communicated to him. He believed that he would get to heaven because of going things like; going to church, studying Bible, obeying parents. The teaching that God will reward those who do good things with material wealth also acted as a catalyst in his pursuit for wealth and many.
He often times felt his own weight of sin and other times he felt he was a good person. All this continued until his second year in campus when he met a friend who stirred him to the study of scriptures and crosscheck his beliefs. This was very hard of them when he realised that what he believed was unscriptural. So he started his pursuit of truth.
In July 2019, he came across John Charles Ryle’s book, Thoughts for Young Men. Reading through this book, his eyes were opened and he understood what is Gospel. Denis Musembi found that he is not a good person but a bad person, a wretch, unprofitable, dead in Sin, blind, poor, and worthless. The book also made him realize the danger he was into because of his sin against a Holy and Just God. It was pointed from Scriptures that only Jesus Christ could save him from the utter helplessness of his works and from wrath of God.

Denis then believed and placed his faith in Jesus Christ Alone. He started a blog to share about his faith and help others too to realize what the true Gospel is. Today, Musyimi loves speaking of Christ, His Savior in his blog Pilgrim Meditations.
