Why could God not just Forgive Us?
Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? Was it necessary for God to send Jesus Christ to come down on earth live a very difficult life and die a very painful death on the cross to save us? Why could God not just forgive us without having to send Jesus to come and die on the cross?
These are some of the questions which trouble many people even Christians. To answer this question, we must look at who God is.
When God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the garden of the Eden, he commanded them not to eat fruits from the tree of good and evil, which wad in the midst of the garden. God, in His com7mand, he clearly outlined the consequences of disobeying that command. When they disobeyed, death became part of their life. They would no longer live forever but would die.
God never lies.
Among the things that God cannot do, one of them is that God cannot lie. The Bible says that He has exalted his word above his name. When God says something, it shall come to pass. Concerning sinners, God has said in the Bible that the soul that sins shall die. Now, death is not the death people die after spending some years in this world. Rather, it means eternal torment in a place called hell. Where the wicked, satan, and his demons will be tormented after judgment. Now God has said all that. All mankind has sinned against God and therefore deserves this kind of Judgement. Now if God just forgives sinners into heaven, it means that he is a liar because he has not fulfilled his word.
God is Holy
The Bible is full of scriptures that speak of God’s Holiness. Being Holy means being set apart for God’s purposes. Now scriptures say that God is holy in the sense that he is so set apart that he won’t even set His eyes on that which is wicked. The wicked therefore cannot spend eternity with him in heaven in their present state. They must be born again.
God is Just
Justice in the scriptures means getting what you deserve. God is just in that He will reward each one of us according to our deeds. For those who do good, they shall be rewarded for their good and for the wicked, they shall get recompense for their actions.
The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. If God does not give every sinner the deserved wages of death for their sin, then He will be unjust. God cannot just forgive because he is holy to overlook sin, cannot lie about the judgment of the wicked and he is just to give each one their reward.
Why Did God Send Jesus Christ to die for our sins?
Because we being sinners, there was no other way we could be saved. We had sinned against the perfect and Holy God and there was no one else in the heaven and on earth suitable to die for mankind.
We wanted a perfect savior to save is from the wrath of God against all unrighteousness. Without Christ dying on the cross, we won’t spend eternity in hell. Christ Jesus came and lived a sinless life so that we, who could not live perfectly as God demanded would have peace with God. When he died on the cross, all our sins were laid on Him and the punishment that was due to us, God laid on Him. He died and rose again for iur justification. Now, he is calling all people to come to Him to escape eternal damnation in hell. He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to Him.
The Bible says that for God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. God send His Son Jesus Christ out of love for mankind, so that we may be saved. Believe in Him today.
