Perfect Love of Jesus | Romans 5:8
Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold."
“Love grows natural, hate is taught,” read a post someone had posted. Though I was just scrolling and enjoying memes, this one had caught my attention. Does love grow naturally, really? Look at the world around us and think. Are we naturally loving? Where does malice, hate, murder, jealousy and any kind of wickedness come from? Bible teaches that mankind is under sin and hates God as it is written, “There is none righteous, no not one.” Romans 3:10. Jesus says that there none good but one, that is, God. Mathew 19:17. Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? James 4:1
What a world we live in. The times are evil and bad. We are all perfectly imperfect living in a sin ruined world among perfectly imperfect people. Where do we expect perfection? Love is so rare and if found, very imperfect.
There is no doubt the truth of the subject. One needs not to look far from his door. You just need to look from within and around you and see how rare is love. Many people will not talk of faith, hope, meekness and gentleness but many will boast to possess love. But is it true?
If great number of people claim to be loving, why is love then so rare? Just look at the world and see, how friends become enemies, and lovers get to the point of breaking up and divorcing. These people once loved each other. What really happened? And many say love ended. Was it then perfect? No, we are perfectly imperfect.
Perfect Love of Jesus Christ
Who then whose love will never end? Which will last? Who will love us in our worst conditions? Thanks be to God that Christ Jesus is a friend of failing believers. He knows our failings, how my thoughts are so sinful, my imperfections, my doubts and fears and yet he chose to love me. How many would love if they knew how wicked your heart and thoughts are? If they saw how really you are in sight of God, would they still love you? You see – probably no one. How many have we cut off them the moment we realized who they were? When they had their mask on, hiding their true character, we thought they were people who deserved our affection. But when they took down their masks, we saw their character and we avoided them.
Love of Christ to His people is perfect. His love can never decay. He cannot be separated from His people. Though many times they forsake Him, He will seek them that have wandered from Him and bring them
back. We didn’t do anything good of notice for Christ to love us. The Bible says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8KJV
Christ died for us not when we were His friends. He died for His enemies. He was righteous and Holy and blameless and spotless and sinless. He was perfect. It is hard that a righteous man will be willing to
die for someone else’s sin. The good man can die for his friends, not his enemies. But Christ who is perfect, died for his enemies. Creator bearing the sin of creature! There is no love than the love of Christ.
Do you know anything of the kind of love I have described above? Do you know Christ, who is Love and His love alone is perfect? Do you love God? Notice for one thing, only God can grant love. It is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. You cannot learn it in Romances and works of mere mortals. If you desire to love like Christ, then you must be one of Christ. Men naturally are destitute of love. It is by believing in Christ and abiding and following Him you can learn to love like Christ. And also mark this, you will love people better if you love God more. The more you look on Christ, the more gentler, loving, merciful and compassionate you shall be to your fellows.
It is only by believing in Christ, you shall learn to love like Christ.
